Geoff is the proprietor of Anvil consulting. Prior to that he was a senior engineer for WSP NZ for eight years, a ventilation engineer and a production manager. Geoff is a knowledgeable and diligent engineer and is driven to make positive change for the SFPE.
Mike is the managing Director of Pacific Consultants and has been on the SFPE Executive Committee for many years. His SFPE activities are focused on the FireNZ conference and liaising with Standards NZ.
Martin is a Fellow of the SFPE and a Fellow of IPENZ for his contribution to the advancement of engineering practice. His contribution to development of the field of fire engineering, and particularly his leadership in developing guidelines setting out good practice have been of particular value. He has shared his knowledge willingly for the benefit of others through his extended service to the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, which included time as both President and Secretary.
John has been on the SFPE Executive Committee for more than six years and has served as treasurer for the last three of that. His career has been driven by fire, commencing with Wormald in 1972, covering all aspects of active fire systems. The last 11 years spent as a fire engineer at Macdonald Barnett Partners. John is passionate about fire safety because “the difference between fire systems and everything else is that they are not easily tested but have to work right at the first call as there is seldom a second chance.”
Claire has been a team leader in the NZFS engineering team since early 2011 and is currently on secondment to MBIE. Prior to that she was a director of Niras (Denmark), worked in the UK, Australia and Singapore for Arup, and began her career at Tenos a UK fire engineering consultancy. To date Claire has focused her SFPE efforts on CPD events and hopes to continue to do so.
Paul is an Associate with Beca and the National Fire Discipline Lead for Beca in New Zealand, He previously worked for Arup in the UK and Denmark and has broad experience in design and project management of large scale infrastructure and building projects. Paul is a chartered engineer in both New Zealand and the UK. His focus on the SFPE Executive is enhancing our communications to reach more of our membership.
Keryn is a senior fire engineer in Holmes Fire, Auckland. She has seven years’ experience in performance based design, and is committed to the ongoing development of fire engineering as a profession.
Geoff Thomas is a senior lecturer at the School of Architecture at Victoria University Of Wellington, lecturing in Fire Safety, Building Codes and Structures. Prior to this Geoff was the Fire Engineering Manager at Sinclair Knight Merz, with projects, in New Zealand, Hong Kong, The Philippines and Indonesia.
