International

Society of Fire Protection Engineers (USA)
The purpose of the Society is to advance the science and practice of fire protection engineering and its allied fields, to maintain a high ethical standard among its members and to foster fire protection engineering education.  SFPE is the professional society representing those practicing the field of fire protection engineering. The Society has approximately 4500 members in the United States and abroad, and 57 regional chapters.

Society of Fire Safety (Australia)
The Society was established to foster excellence in fire safety in Australia.  As a learned Society, the aims are to draw together individuals who are actively engaged in fire safety, to provide a national focus and leadership for the development, understanding, practice and application of fire safety engineering to achieve reductions of risk for life, property and environmental damage and the implementation of cost-effective fire safety codes and regulations.

NIST Building Fire Research Lab (USA)
The Building and Fire Research Laboratory studies building materials; computer-integrated construction practices; fire science and fire safety engineering; and structural, mechanical, and environmental engineering. Products of the laboratory's research include measurements and test methods, performance criteria, and technical data that supports innovations by industry and are incorporated into building and fire standards and codes.

International Association of Fire Safety Science
IAFSS was founded with the primary objective of encouraging research into the science of preventing and mitigating the adverse effects of fires and of providing a forum for presenting the results of such research. The International Association for Fire Safety Science perceives its role to lie in the scientific bases for achieving progress in unsolved fire problems.

National Fire Protection Association (USA)
The mission of the international non-profit NFPA, established in 1896, is to reduce the worldwide burden of fire and other hazards on the quality of life by providing and advocating consensus codes and standards, research, training, and education. NFPA develops, publishes, and disseminates more than 300 consensus codes and standards intended to minimize the possibility and effects of fire and other risks.

Fire Protection Association (UK)
The Fire Protection Association is the UK’s national fire safety organisation, one of 28 similar national bodies worldwide. It was established in 1946 and has strong support from the insurance industry, primarily through the Association of British Insurers and Lloyd’s. The FPA’s core departments are Publications, Training and Technical Consultancy.

Institution of Fire Engineers (UK)
The IFE is a non-profit making professional body with a membership of over 12,000 and a global reach extending through 39 international branches. It is licensed by the Engineering Council (UK), and upholds professional standards within all public and private fire sectors.
